Alex started writing as a teenager as a way to manage and channel emotions. S/he has experienced mental health issues since the age of 13 and finds writing one of the most useful ways to manage these, both creative writing and blogging. Alex believes that mental health is a spectrum and that a person's mental illness does not define them as a person but is like a filter that affects how they experience and perceive the world, and that it is different for every person. The blog posts are written from Alex's perspective and the issues discussed will be experienced differently for every person which is important to remember when reading about anyone's experience of mental health issues. Most of Alex's blog posts will look at aspects of living with Asperger's syndrome, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts or paranoia and how they can interact as well as ways that s/he has found useful to manage them. If you have any questions, please email Alex at rainbowsandrecovery@gmail.com :) all feedback, suggestions or discussion welcome!
