Book Review: Five Go Parenting!

Five Go Parenting

Growing up, I always loved reading the many books given to world by the incredible Enid Blyton. The Three Gollywogs, The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree, Noddy, The Naughtiest Girl in School, The Secret Seven and so many more! Through these I was taken on adventures through different lands, made new friends and grew up with an open mind free to go wherever my imagination would take me. Just like Rory Gilmore I lived in two worlds, one a world of books.

However, one collection of Enid Blyton books that I never enjoyed was The Fanous Five collections. I don't know why, I just didn't like them.  But when the new collection of adult Famous Five books was released, I was quite intrigued. I walked myself down to WHS Smith and decided to give one of them a go. The one I chose to get was 'Five Go Parenting'.

This book was great!  Like all Enid Blyton stories from when you were younger, it is warm, witty and funny, only now they're relatable too, making them even funnier.  We see Julian, Dick, Anne, George and their dog Tommy become responsible for a baby, a baby they didn't even know existed until Social Services dropped her off.  It takes us through the night feed struggles, the excitement of them buying her first pram and working their way through parenthood.  The story is funny, warm and full of subtle adult humor and takes you right back to your childhood and i cannot wait to read the rest of the collection.
