So we begin a new month, with one important question: What books are coming out in September?
Epic Reads has posted their twenty most anticipated books coming out this month. The list includes Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, which I mentioned in my post about books well suited to be read in the fall. There also the modern day Macbeth retelling As I Descended by Robin Talley, and Kingdom of Ash & Briars by Hannah West, a story inspired by Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Emma, and a Chinese Legend of Hua Mulan.
Many of the other books on the list are part of well-known series. Of the books deemed worthy to be listed at the bottom of the article, but not quite good enough to make the list, The Cat King of Havana by Tom Crosshill is the one that catches my eye. Not that I’m addicted to cat videos or anything. On a completely unrelated note, here’s a cat riding a bike while wearing a sombrero.
The Barnes & Noble Teen Blog lists 29 books they’re looking forward to this month. Books found on this list include the witchy story by Irena Brignull called The Hawkweed Prophecy, and Going Geek by Charlotte Huang, where the protagonist sees her status take a tumble in her senior year of high school.
The Snuggly Oranges blog lists her own anticipated releases, including a couple of books that failed to make either the Epic Reads or Barnes & Noble lists. One of these is the first book in a series by Emma Trevayne, the virtual reality story Gamescape: Overworld.
Finally, Ohana Reads (a fellow Canadian!), lists her ten most anticipated fall releases. The list includes a new book by Marissa Meyer, whose Lunar Chronicles series has been pretty much universally praised, though I haven’t read it yet. Heartless is a prequel to Alice in Wonderland.
