Are you single? Are you not married yet? Are you in a relationship with your career? Don’t worry, because you are not alone. According to statistics, 50% of the world population is single.

Yes, being single is fun, you got your freedom, you got your time for yourself but sometimes it’s tiring to wait for that special someone. Yes, you go on a date from time to time, you meet the interesting person that makes your heart jump for a while. But at the end of the day, you feel like that other half of yours is still out there.

So, as I belong to those 50% people who are still single in this earth. I would like to share 10 things to do while we are single. Things to make time productive while we are waiting for that someone that God made for us. Bits and pieces that might help you take pleasure in your years of being solo from my very own perspective and based on my solitary experience.

1.    GET TO KNOW OR LOVE YOURSELF MORE
How many of us appreciate ourselves? The things we do, scars we have and all our imperfections. Spend more alone time with yourself, with this you can comprehend your inner thoughts more without all the noise from other people in your life.

2.   TRAVEL AND EXPLORE PLACES SOLO
Nowadays, traveling has been a mainstream to people. In a relationship or not, it is a great way to learn a new culture. Go on a trip alone; just make sure the places you will travel around are safe. You might never know, your other half might be there waiting in an airport or sipping a coffee in a café you just passed by.

3.    READ LOTS OF BOOKS
This could only be applicable to bookworms like me, but reading lots of books can widen your knowledge about things. Try making a list of books you want to read in a year. By accomplishing this, you might see the world in a new point of view with much more excitement.

4.    LEARN NEW SKILLS
Since you are single, that means you have more time to learn new skills. Learn a new language; try a new hobby or a sport you’ve wanted to try these past few years and why not? You have plenty of time to explore your abilities (perks of being single).

5.    GO BACK TO SCHOOL
Life is a continuous learning process. Yes, you already earned a college degree, you are a licensed professional, but why not try another one? Try the course that you didn’t get in college due to your parents choice of career for you. You know, first love never dies.

6.    GET A LIFE INSURANCE
Based on financial experts, they strongly advise getting a life insurance while we are young. Not just to ensure ourselves when certain things happen but to prepare ourselves for the future as well.

7.    VOLUNTEER AND GIVE BACK
What’s another thing we can do while single? Why not divert some of your energy to charity works to inspire people and give back all the blessings you have received in life. It just not helps you to refresh your purpose in life but also to help other people in need.

8.    GROW IN YOUR CAREER
Some single people are already workaholic or already married with their work. But why not try another phase in your work environment. Try your luck in working abroad, in another country. With this, you are going out on your comfort zone and exploring your capabilities and what you can offer in your profession in a whole new setting.

9.    MEET NEW PEOPLE
Being single means you have the freedom to meet new people and make more friends. Widen your circle of friends, people who share same interests as you. And when God works, you might meet your future spouse along the way.

10.    FEED YOUR PASSION
Okay, to top it all always feed your passion. Continue growing as an individual, write down your thoughts, and let your feelings out through art, blog or in any form of medium. Being single gives you the opportunity to do things in your own thoughtful way. Make your relationship with God and with your family intense with passion. Don’t forget your loved ones for they will be the source of your love. So, by the time you meet that person, you can say that you enjoyed your single life so much that you are ready to share it with someone who is God’s best for you.
