2 They brought to Him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a stretcher. Seeing their [active] faith [springing from confidence in Him], Jesus said to the paralytic, “Do not be afraid, son; your sins are forgiven [the penalty is paid, the guilt removed, and you are declared to be in right standing with God].”
At times, many of us can be just like this paralysed man. Not necessarily paralysed physically but somewhat helpless. Unable to do the things we put our minds to, unable to be as strong as we would like to be. That's what I realised when I read this verse. We all need a saviour. Jesus is that saviour. Not only did he heal the paralytic man- giving him what he desired but he also reassured him that he was going to be okay because he was in right standing with God, the price has been paid. That is exactly what Jesus has done for us. He has paid the price to ensure everything about us will be alright.
So let us trust in God and all that he sent His Son to do for us at the cross.
