Hello Miners, Crafters, and Minecrafters! Welcome to the step-by-step guide to using a grid! This is a must read if you plan on making large structures. Let's get started!

Here we have a foundation of 21x21 Cobblestone  blocks. With large foundations, it can be difficult to keep track of where you are when building. To make it easier, let's create some grid marks!

Step 1:

Start at one corner and place a block next to the corner block. You can use any kind of block, just make sure it's different from the foundation. The more contrast, the better!

Now place grid marks at every other block horizontally along the side of your foundation. This is called the X-Axis.

Step 2:

Place a grid marker on the other side of your starting corner. You can use the same type of block as you did for the X-Axis or a different one if you like.

Now place grid marks at every other block vertically along the side of your foundation. This is called the Y-Axis.

Step 3:

If you're following one of my guides, it may help to place an "X" by the X-Axis and a "Y" by the Y-Axis.

That's simple enough. Now for a demonstration!

Let's start by placing a block at (3, 3) (x, y). The first number(3) is on the X-Axis. The second number(3) is on the Y-Axis. Since the first marker is "1" that means the second marker is "3" since every other block is marked.

(3, 3) looks like this.

The next red block is at (7, 7).

The third. (12, 4).
