Exfoliation is the love of my skincare life. If I could only have one skincare product I would do away with moisturisers, makeup removers, cleansers and toners all for exfoliators. I have tried my fair share of these products and a few months ago I found what may be my holy grail.

Introducing - the Olive Illuminating Face Polish!

Olive is a brand I've recently gotten into after I received a free sample from my local chain department store. They are a New Zealand based brand and all their products are made on-site at the Simunovich Olive Estate, which also contains their vast olive grove where they harvest their oil from. They make a huge range of products - from their own line of olive oil to skin, body and hair care.

The website is also very open about their products. They have pages dedicated to the benefits of using olive oil, endorsements and even detailing their process. Every product page also features a list of all the ingredients and they include a glossary that explains what they are and why they are used.

Right from the get-go you can see that it has many great qualities for skincare. The back of the product labels it as being free from parabens, mineral oils, artificial colourants or fragrances, silicones and animal testing! I've had bad reactions to more 'natural' products before as I have severe plant allergies but I've had no side effects with this. It also has pleasant and clean fragrance, which means you don't have to smell of perfume all day and night.

Clay is incredible for the skin and it's surprising to see it in an exfoliator like this rather than a treatment mask. After using this for some time I don't feel the need to treat myself to a clay mask as my skin is getting all the benefits from it 2-3 times a week!

Now with all of the concern around micro-beads recently you may be a little wary of an exfoliator. Not to worry, this product contains grit in it, which isn't microbeads! It's actually sugar and finely ground olive pips! This brand only use natural exfoliants in all it's products and they've written about it on their website here. I do find the grit to be more harsh than regular exfoliants so if you have more delicate or sensitive skin you might want to try something else. But for all of you who feel you need to first few layers of skin to be removed to feel clean then this is for you!

You get 50mls of product which may not seem like a whole lot, but will last at least 3 months with sparse usage. I tend to use it 2-3 times a week as I've mentioned as it is very powerful, so it's a good idea to give your skin a bit of a break with a nourishing cleanser on the off days. This retails for $22.10 USD or £13.48 which is an amazing price for such a product! It can be purchased from their website here and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
