Most of the time when I ask someone what they want to become, the responses I get are; I don’t know yet, business, doctor, lawyer, fashion, or engineering. Their reason for choosing these cliche occupations is obviously the money. Don’t get me wrong there are those who truly enjoy treating patients, learning about the law and serving justice, and trading stocks. However, the people that I am surrounded by seem to limit themselves. I know a few friends who enjoy singing, rapping, or acting, yet they do not pursue a career in that industry. The common reason being that the industry is highly competitive or that it is too hard to make it out there. What they don’t realize is that just because others couldn’t make it doesn’t mean you can’t. Look around you, that car, your phone, computer, furniture, skyscraper, bank, shoes, and everything else was made by someone no better than you. You can be that one in a million, but you need to believe in yourself and not let society get inside your head. Society is going to judge you anyways, so do whatever you want to do. Another popular reason that I receive is that it’s too late to try. Just because you took longer than others doesn’t mean you failed.

As for those who say it’s too hard, you need to grow some tougher skin and get out of your comfort zone. Embrace the change that will come your way not fear it. Time is irreversible so do not live a life with regrets. “Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit however, it lasts forever.”- Eric Thomas

Be thankful for all the struggles you go through. They make you stronger and wiser. Don’t let it break you, let it make you. There’s plenty of time so get shit done! There’s 100 million ways to achieve success so find the way that works for you. You’re always one decision away from a totally different life. Decide, commit and persist. All the struggles will be worthwhile.
