If you tried to buy CBD oil in the UK a few years ago, you would have found it hard to find a supplier. Today, CBD oil is seemingly everywhere, and it is estimated that the market will be worth over £1 billion by 2025. Back in 2017, the Cannabis Trades Association (CTA) discovered that 250,000 Britons used CBD; that figure had doubled in one year, and is now well over one million!

The UK market is such that North American businesses are attempting to muscle in. However, if you live in Britain and want to purchase CBD oil, it may be better to look closer to home. Brands like Provocan, who have been operating for several years and have developed a sterling reputation for quality, may be your best bet.

The UK CBD Market Needs Better Regulation

In June 2019, the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis (CMC) called for UK CBD to have better regulation and reform. It is a necessary request in an industry set to become larger than the entire existing UK herbal supplement market within six years. The CMC’s recommendations include the following:

  • The UK government needs to amend the existing legislation, which is out of date.
  • The medical profession must invest more time and money into researching CBD.
  • Business operators must become involved in ‘robust’ self-regulation.
  • Regulators must clearly outline the current policy.

According to Dr. Andrew Yates of the CMC, the existing legislation is outdated, ambiguous, and fragmented. Unfortunately, he is right. When you try to buy CBD oil in the UK, the quality of product is not defined, nor is there any guarantee regarding product composition. Also, low-quality marketing is a blot on the landscape.

In a joint survey, conducted with YouGov, CMC found the following fascinating data relating to CBD:

  • Up to six million adults have used cannabidiol in the UK.
  • 11% of the British population have used a CBD product in the last 12 months.
  • 1.3 million customers are spending £300 million on CBD products each year.
  • 13% of females use the cannabinoid compared to 9% of males.
  • 47% of the UK population believe marijuana should be legalized. 75% of CBD users feel the same way!

One of the main issues customers face when purchasing CBD oil in the UK is knowing where the cannabinoid comes from. At present, the UK market is heavily reliant on imports, and the government needs to start supporting British CBD oil sellers.

The existing situation is all the more galling since it has been legal to purchase CBD oil in the UK since 2016. The cannabinoid has already become mainstream, so it could already be too late for would-be gatecrashers to get involved. Nonetheless, there are scores of dubious brands popping up selling CBD oil of questionable quality.

Who Can I Trust?

As we mentioned above, much of the CBD oil in the UK is imported, or at least derived from industrial hemp grown overseas. Since November 2018, five Canadian companies have imported their produce into the United Kingdom. The world’s largest publicly traded producer of cannabis, Canopy, has developed a partnership with the Beckley Foundation, a British research institution.

As there is a local, European, and global demand for CBD oil, any British manufacturer and seller will have an enormous market to tap into, if they can prove their credibility. An increasing number of Britons buy CBD oil from High Street firm, Holland and Barrett, who recently began stocking the item.

However, the CBD oil on sale in the High Street is nowhere near as strong as that provided by online brands. For example, you can buy CBD oil from Provocan online, and save a significant amount of money compared to what you’ll pay on the High Street. Moreover, you also benefit from more CBD per drop than you do with other brands.

Provocan’s most potent blend offers 1200mg per 10ml bottle, which equates to 6mg per drop. For new users, a drop or two per day is all you need to get started. You have the option of increasing the dosage as you gain a greater understanding of how CBD oil affects your body and mind.

No matter what, make sure the CBD oil you buy online in the UK comes from a reputable vendor with an established positive reputation. In the UK, CBD products must not contain more than 0.2% THC. As such, focus on brands that offer third-party lab reports so you can see for yourself how much CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids are in each batch.

You may also see CBD isolates for sale. While these products have their merits, it is difficult to beat CBD oil in the UK with numerous cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Research shows that these compounds work better together than in isolation, in a phenomenon known as the entourage effect.
