From its diverse countryside, to its people, its easy to see why so many people choose to travel to Canada each and every year. It is the second largest country in the world, just after Russia, and is one with so much to offer. With so much to offer as a whole, it can be hard to narrow down your destination to just one region in Canada. For this reason, we’re talking through some of the reasons why you might just want to make the most out of your trip to Canada, by travelling within the country to truly experience everything it has to offer.
1. For the adventure
If you’re a thrill-seeker, Canada is without a doubt the place to be, and each region has its own offerings. The adventurous outdoor activities on offer are second to none, you simply can’t find such a range of adrenaline pumping activities anywhere else. Canadians are known to truly embrace each season with open arms, so there is truly an abundance of things to do, all throughout the country, no matter the time of year. During the winter months, you could find yourself enjoying a range of activities from snowmobiling, ice-fishing and dog-sledding. You might even find yourself staying in one of the world-class ski resorts scattered around the country to enjoy a ski break, or to learn a new skill in snowboarding. During the summer months, locals and visitors alike enjoy outdoor activities more suited for the warmer weather, such as hiking, camping, cycling, and kayaking, to name but a few. If you open your mind to it, there is adventure to be found for anyone in all corners of Canada.
2. For the food
It really goes without saying that Canada has some truly delicious cuisine on offer. If you’ve never tried real, authentic Canadian maple syrup, then you haven’t ever really tried maple syrup. Another popular hit amongst Canadians is their world-renowned, hearty Poutine, a dish of chips topped with cheese and gravy. It tends to be a hit or miss amongst visitors, but there’s no denying that it’s a classic. Not only do you have world famous Canadian dishes to contend with, but thanks to Canada’s sheer diversity and combination of cultures, there is mind-numbing abundance in terms of tastes from around the world to try all throughout the country, so you’re bound to find something that gets your taste buds tingling, if not Poutine.
3. For the appreciation of nature
The landscape in Canada is truly unlike anywhere else in the world, and you can only really get a feel for it when you travel throughout the country and experience as much of it as you possibly can. Canada is home to more freshwater lakes than the rest of the world’s lakes combined, and they truly are a sight to behold. Not only that, but Canada’s fiercely protected national parks are home to rocky mountains and dense forests filled with trees dating back hundreds of years. In other regions, you’ll find dramatic coastlines, cherry blossoms and even glaciers. Then there’s the wildlife, which is rich and diverse beyond your wildest imagination. Think bears, wolves, and whales to name but a few. Nature can be appreciated in abundance all throughout Canada, and witnessing it firsthand is unlike anything else.
4. For the culture
One of the most fascinating and enriching things about Canada is the sheer diversity in their culture. With Canada’s provinces connected to its First Nations people, as well as strong Fresh and British influences, each of Canada’s cities have their own distinct atmospheres in terms of culture, but these combinations truly make something wonderful. As well as that, Canadians tend to welcome visitors from all around the world with open arms. There’s a reason why Canadians are famously lauded as some of the most friendly people in the world - it’s because they really are. Travel throughout the country, meet them, and you’ll see why.
