Forever chasing my shadow of ten years ahead
run a hand through my hair, stretch it to reach the sky
No longer need to hold back my cries
salty sweet tears fall ever so ugly down my face
to the point I can't recognize the man in the mirror
no longer need to hold back a smile
I'm not who they say, am I?
I'm not what they whisper about
proud of my not so perfect mouth
filled with joy to see my face everyday
finally growing to be the man I was meant to be
He is not me, I'm nothing like him
Skin is just skin to me
a different shade never truly matters
