Rest days are important for fitness – here’s why, according to science

We have always heard the terms 'health' and 'fitness'. When we say that health is wealth, and fitness is the key, we use it ourselves. What exactly does the word health mean? It means the idea of being 'well'. We call a person healthy and fit when he or she acts physically as well as mentally. Good health and fitness is not something that we can fully achieve on our own. It depends on their physical environment and the quality of food intake. We live in villages, towns, and cities.

A diet rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates is very important. Carbohydrates provide the energy required to perform various functions. Vitamins and minerals help to build bones and enhance our immune system. However, taking a disproportionate amount of food is not good for the body. Taking a sufficient amount of essential nutrients is called a balanced diet. Eating a balanced diet keeps the body and mind strong and healthy. Good food helps in better sleep, proper brain function, and healthy body weight. Include vegetables, fruits, and pulses in the daily diet. One must eat three meals. Being spiritually helps to cleanse the internal organs of the body. Healthy eating habits prevent various diseases. Cholesterol and heart diseases are avoided by reducing the amount of fat in the diet.

Regular exercise helps in improving the strength of our muscles. Exercise helps in a good supply of oxygen and blood flow throughout the body. Heart and lungs work efficiently. Our bones are strong and there is pain-free movement in the joints. We should spend at least twenty minutes daily in our exercise. Daily morning walks improve our fitness level. We should avoid rigorous gym activities. Exercise burns our fat and controls cholesterol levels in the body. Various outdoor sports like cricket, football, volleyball, etc. keep our body fit. Regular exercise maintains our body shape and also 4 day split workout for mass and strength also be useful for this.

Meditation and yoga have been a part of our life since ancient times. They not only make us physically healthy but also mentally strong. Meditation improves our concentration level. Our mind becomes calm and thinking becomes positive.

A fit and healthy person is less at risk of chronic diseases. A healthy mind responds better to a pressure situation. Person's confidence increases. The risk of heart failure decreases significantly. With increased immune power the body can fight cancer cells. Fracture intensity is reduced by regular exercise.
