Why I love to Sing in the Car

Why I love to Sing in the Car

I read an article the other day saying that singing in the car is good for you. Apparently it relieves stress and pain while increasing happiness and productivity. Personally, I believe that music is a universal language that allows people to let loose and truly be themselves. I have been in countries listening to music that I couldn't understand and loved every second of it. But that's not what this post is about.

I work in a place where my frequent singing and bopping around is often mocked, put down, and reprimanded, even without reason. I seem to to move around more when I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed which would make sense. Well today, after being scolded by a coworker, I left for my drive home and decided that I was going to sing it all out. I put on an array of music, from Adele, to Taking Back Sunday, to the Spice Girls. Adele to help me get out the sadness, Taking Back Sunday to scream all of the things I couldn't say while working, and the Spice Girls to simply make me smile again.

In the course of a thirty minute drive home, my mood was a bit more lifted, I at least felt a bit more like myself. Now, screaming in the car certainly didn't fix everything. I still run through the things that happened today, and what I shoulda, woulda, coulda said, but at the very least, I felt human.

Now, in the future, I think I may just start belting out songs to combat any issues. I mean, it couldn't hurt. Right?
