If you’re a delivery driver, whether you work for Waitr, Grubhub, Uber Eats, Doordash, Postmates, or any other kind of service that delivers food, after a while you’ll probably realize it’s necessary to have certain items with you in the car to make your job as easy as possible. Whether it’s a mount for your phone so you can concentrate on the road, or a powerful flashlight, these are the things that are often useful as you provide the service to restaurants that deliver food.

1) A Cable and Charger Adapted to the Car

You can easily find cables that will charge your phone in the car. This is among the most necessary items, since you don’t want the power to completely run out on your phone when you’re in the middle of driving; this could impact your job performance.

2) A Mount for Your Phone

Mounts are an essential tool if your job involves your car. With phone mounts, you can easily look at directions and keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. You’ll be distraction-free and reduce the risk for accidents. You can find either mounts that are magnetic, or mounts that fit in your cup holders.

3) A Powerful Flashlight

Flashlights are great to have if you do a lot of night driving. Flashlights allow you to see signs, and if you ever get a flat tire or need to read paper directions, you’ll need a flashlight to do so.

4) A Dash Cam

Dash cams can protect you in the future if you’re ever in an accident, as they make great witnesses that are objective and can show exactly what happened if you’re in an incident or other collision as you work on the road. There’s a wide range of them available for a variety of prices.

5) A Headset that Supports Bluetooth

If you need to take calls as part of your job, or your family likes to check in, a bluetooth headset will be essential. This’ll keep your focus on the road and will make your calls hands-free.

6) A Good Pair of Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a big priority if you work during the day. Sunglasses that are polarized will be especially beneficial to protect your eyes against sunlight. Some cars may come bluetooth equipped.

7) Protection

Protection such as pepper spray or a personal taser is a good idea if you work in an unsafe area, or if your delivery duties take you to the more sketchy parts of your city; better safe than sorry.

8) A Rain Jacket or Umbrella

These are essential if you work in an environment where it often rains. Not only does it prevent you from becoming soaked, but the food you deliver as well.

9) Bags that are Insulated

These bags will keep heated food hot, and refrigerated food cool. You’ll find them in any size. Usually, your first insulated bag is free through your company.

10) A Shirt that says “Tips Appreciated”

These shirts are fun and guaranteed to get you more tips.
