Storms, both literal and figurative, can feel extremely overwhelming sometimes. With Hurricane Matthew prevalent during this moment, I wanted to share some Biblical encouragement with anyone reading this. We have no reason to be afraid, for God is bigger than any storm that comes. Not only is He bigger, but He will protect us; and He can even calm those storms with just a simple word. Here is some scripture that will remind you that you have no reason to fear or doubt:

1. Psalms 91:1 NLT
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2. Matthew 8:23-27 ESV
And when He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but He was asleep. And they went and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And He said to them,“Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of Man is this, that even winds and sea obey Him?”

3. Joshua 1:9 NKJV
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

LotR: Have Courage, Mary

4. Psalms 55:22 NIV
Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

5. Philippians 4:6-7 AMP
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

6. II Timothy 1:7 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

7. Psalms 34:4 KJV
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

8. Psalms 91:14-16 NLT
The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name. When they call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them My salvation."

9. I Peter 5:7 NLT
Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

10. John 14:27 ESV
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

11. Mark 4:39-40 ESV
And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”

Time lapse of clouds/storms

Let me just make one last thing clear: if Jesus calmed the storm once, what would stop Him from doing it again? Have faith, not fear, and know that God is always there and will always protect you. Do not be afraid of any storm that may threaten to come, for God is with you; and He has said time and time again that He will not let you fall.
