1914, Paniqui's Mang Inasal - 1914 may sound like a year at first hearing but it is actually an eatery in Paniqui, Tarlac that is relatively new (opened its doors on March 2016) and partly hidden (located between Ice Cream House and Paniqui Fiesta Mall along Zamora Street).

Opens from 8am to 8pm, this hidden gem specializes in native Filipino food and offers discount meals.

If not for the huge signage I found beside National Bookstore in Paniqui, Tarlac (which I thought was just an advertisement when in fact it is already the point of entry) and the guidance of some tricycle drivers, I would never guess 1914 Inasal's location.

Don't be deceived by this! It may look like a cocktail drink but this is 1914's signature pink iced tea, only for 18php.

Promoting its menu that is loyal to native Filipino cuisine, the whole restaurant is covered with bamboo sticks. Being new and partly hidden, the place is not so crowded. The tables are far apart from each other and the staff is very attentive (extra soup, rice, water and they are there pronto.)

Just add 10php to their regular meal (in this case their bestseller Sisig na Bangus at 89php) and you will get the unli-rice promo.

Aside from rice meals, they also offer favorite Filipino meryendas like pancit meals, halo halo, lumpia  and more. I honestly lost track but there are loads to choose from. And all single orders are just around 50 to 100php. Very affordable, indeed.

Satisfy your halo halo cravings with 1914's take on the famous Filipino dessert at 55php.

I would like to personally promote this local food joint who boldly established its own name and did not buy a franchise from big brands. Although I have nothing against franchising. You will be amazed at their generous serving at very reasonable prices. So if you just want to try something new yet familiar to your palette, try 1914 and you won't regret it.
