My best friend and I will be celebrating our 23rd birthday. I consider her as my sister from another mother, not to mention that we only have few hours gap when our mothers gave birth to us. So maybe that’s why we have an amazing bond and by some means can read each other’s mind. Few weeks prior our big day she asked me if I am interested to have a Countdown-To-do list (She’s planning to Write a poem, play guitar, sing a song, ride a bike etc. ) Both of us we’re spontaneous and adventurous lass but this time I turned her down. I just don’t feel like doing anything for my birthday. I just can’t… I just wanted to stay at home.

So instead of playing guitar or riding a bicycle, I come up with 20 lessons I’ve learned for the past 23 years of my life.  I’ve seen a lot of life lessons shared over the internet but this one is personal.

20. Appreciate every little things

Little kindness did to us may seemed nothing, but looking at a bigger picture those every little things helped us somehow.  So thanked them and express your gratitude.  Nothing can be sweeter with a person who appreciates kindness wrapped with a charming smile.

19.Humility is the key to Success

In a world full of people getting their own spotlight, ‘Humility’ is often seen as a weakness. However, if you will look deeply Humility is the Key for success for it will help you to proper or accurately assess your limits, strengths and weaknesses, morally or otherwise.

18. Widen your Circle

Indeed, our family and friends will encourage us to unleash the talents within us but lessons of life can be gained through experiences.  Meeting new people and dealing with them exposed us to learn alternative ways of thinking and behaving thus we tend to be more innovative and successful.

17. Row Your Boat

As the saying goes, “Life is like an ocean. You are bound to be hurt by the sharks of life and maybe you’ll meet a friendly dolphin or two, the former is more likely than the latter.” So whatever may the future brings keep on rowing your boat because life can be calm and still or rough and rigid. But in the end it’s always beautiful.

16. Do not Compromise

Compromise is a basic negotiation process in which both parties give up something that they want in order to get something else they want. Getting back to no. 18, we tend to be innovative meeting with new people however there is a danger in compromising especially with your faith and principles in life.  Mahatma Gandhi once said “it’s easy to stand in the crowd but it takes courage to stand alone”

15. Be Compassionate in Helping People

It is not easy to be compassionate. However some people have innate ability to feel others’ feelings, so they’re very socially connected. All people wanted to feel genuine care and love right? Individuals who are tapped into their own compassion also seem to be tapped into their own emotions. And when you’re emotionally intelligent, you also have a greater sense of morality and it goes round and round.

14. Choose Stories to Tell

Not all the people surround us are concern some are just curious. Be careful what you’re telling them for it may be used against you. I’m not asking you to keep all things on your own. What I’m trying to say is that, if there’s something you will share , it should be someone who can help you or someone it can help. Everyone deals with problems. Some situations tempt us to tell everyone. Other situations tempt us to tell no one. Rarely are either of those two options appropriate. By only telling someone who can help and someone who it can help, we maintain our privacy while also joining others in healthy community.

13. You cannot please everyone so don’t ever try

It’s a waste of time trying to make everyone like you. I’ve learned the hard way and in the end, some people are just so occupied of abhorrence that no matter what you say or do, they’ll always have something to say.  Remember, haters gonna hate, critics will criticize. Let them do their work. There are people I tried to please but they give me nothing but disappointments.

12. Revenge will bring you nowhere

People are human and tend to seek revenge, however a mature woman moves on while karma does her dirty work.

11. Aim High

It is said that our attitude determines our altitude. Human mind is very powerful and if it is conditioned, it can drive a person to achieve whatever he / she wants. Therefore, it is very important that we should always be positive, aim high and set goals of a high order. High aims should be followed by an action plan. When the plan is followed with commitment and hard work, success greets us.

10. Not everyone who is ‘Authority’ is right

Whenever anyone gives you any information, check it over for yourself and see if it works for you and seems correct. If it doesn’t seem correct, don’t rely on it. There is more false information out there than well founded data. You just have to figure out which is which.

9. Look differently in Paradigm of Life

Paradigm is a set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality. So, a paradigm is like a building block. These building blocks helps us to form our perception and they change the way we define everything especially towards our trials.

8. Love is more than a feeling, it’s a Choice

For me, love starts as a feeling but ends as a choice. The actions, sacrifices self-willingness, and things they do to show that they love the other person are by choice.

7. Save some Penny

In case you didn’t notice, life is full of surprises. If you don’t have a savings cushion, these surprises can quickly turn into emergencies that lead to additional debt and a vicious cycle of never getting ahead which actually always happen to me lol.

6. Let go of the Past

You see, those people, jobs, places or whatever else are stumbling blocks. You are tripping over them and falling flat on your face, over and over again.  If God closed the door, it’s for your own good so don’t open it again.

5. Pace Yourself

Everyone wanted to be successful but it can never happen in just one snap. Like what I said inBe kind to Yourself article “You’re too young to be stressed with the things happening around which you can’t control. Bloom where you are planted. Be the best you can be at your present assignment, and stay there until God calls you elsewhere.”

4. Health is Wealth

People may interpret success differently. No matter who we are or what kind of work we have, one thing holds true: a healthy body and mind is essential if you want to lead a truly successful life. What is the essence of having fame or tons of billions if you die young, make sense?

3. Take care your most valuable assets

Your face is not your most valuable asset nor your talking skills but your honesty and integrity. If you have those you’re one of a kind.

2. Love Yourself

Loving yourself is something every person needs at least at some point in their lives. I believe that loving yourself is one of the joyous things in your life. If you’re happy with who you are then it’s easier to love and be loved by someone. It helps ease the mind and there are not stresses on your shoulders worrying about what others think of you. You must love yourself before you can love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy. Even when you don’t feel like you have much to be thankful for, realize that there’s someone out there in this world of 6 billion people who would look at your life and trade places with you in a heartbeat.

1.Keep your Treasure with you wherever you go

People may leave us but no matter what, our God and our family will never ever leave us. The love they have for us is unconditional. No matter how bad things get, no matter how wrong things go, family will always be there!
