2nd day3

The famous Serendipity Cafe in NYC

"Serendipity. It's one of my favorite words 'cause it's such a nice sound for what it means: a fortunate accident." -Sara Thomas, Serendipity

We were in a race against time in our second day in NYC. It rained like crazy the whole morning so we were only able to get out of our airbnb after lunch. That was already half a day wasted. But we still managed to go to more than what we bargained for. Right past 12 noon, just when the rain finally came to a halt, we immediately went to the Guggenheim museum. There were a lot of choices for the museums that we discussed prior to the trip, but we ended up choosing the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in the corner of East 89th street because of its unique architectural design from the outside (as pictured in this entry's featured image). The interior design and the displayed artworks were as unique.

After taking pictures in the museum, we made our way to the Serendipity cafe, hoping that we could taste their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. Unfortunately, the cafe was under renovation and won't be open until the week after (bummer!). However, we did get some photos outside in remembrance of the 2001 movie Serendipity by Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack.

Because we didn't get to hang out at the cafe which was one of the things that we were really looking forward to in this trip, we just went ahead with the sightseeing. We made our way next to St. Peter's Cathedral. At that time, it was under renovation and yet it was still a spectacle to behold.

After St. Peter's Cathedral, we walked towards Rockefeller Center where we got to sit down and rest after hours of walking.

The last 2 sights that we went to were the New York Public Library and the Grand Central Station.

We ended our 2nd day in NYC by going back to Times Square where we usually eat our dinner and take the subway back to our airbnb. We were able to get pictures of people in barely-there costumes even on a winter-like temperature, and those who act like statues and then move once you give them a dollar.

At this time, J-salem was obsessed with the game Clash of Clans so he did not pass up the opportunity to be photographed with a barbarian.

Readers, those were the highlights of our second day. We accomplished a lot, considering we only had half a day because of the weather that morning. Let's just hope for a nice weather during your trip so that you can explore more than what we had. Please continue reading the 3rd and 4th part of this series.

Sending love your way,
