Traveling is the best addiction. Of course, that’s according to me only. Others may not agree but for me, if I’m going to be addicted to something, it should be traveling. Why? Because it takes me to places I’ve never been before, it brings out the best and worse in me and made me realize that I can face my fears. How about you? It’s not too late to start packing your bags and go on a spontaneous trip with friends.  Because if you will, you might understand these meaningful reasons to travel:

  1. Gives you a YOLO (You Only Lives Once) moment- Going on a trip with friends lets you experience new things that will be remembered forever. From ziplining at 1000 meter cable, getting stranded in the middle of nowhere, to getting stung by sea urchins, these kinds of adventures makes you feel how amazing it is to be active and alive.
  2. Challenges you- Compare this, going to work in the morning then going back at home in the afternoon. You do this for most of your life and haven’t realized that routine is boring? Try going on a spontaneous adventure with friends with no definite destination and no accommodation? Try locating a well-hidden waterfall in the middle of the forest or a beach at the other side of the mountain? These adventures challenge you, your endurance, determination, patience and sense of humor.
  3. Gives you education- Who says learning takes place inside the classroom? The most effective teacher is experience. Travelling alone or with friends and meeting new people, learning new language, beliefs and traditions helps educate you about the real world and gives you perspective. You may consider traveling as something someone with lots of money do but seriously its way more than that! During your travels you will learn economy, history, culture, sociology and geography.
  4. Builds meaningful relationship-One of the main reason why I went on trips with friends or family is to bond, reconnect and to build meaningful relationships. Most of the time, the friends you meet or go with on travels are some of your the well-cherished friends.
  5. Helps you learn and understand yourself- When you are challenged or on a difficult situation and desperate, let’s you discover who you are, what you can do and your limitations.

Aside from having something to do, travelling lets you discover a lot about yourself, about life and about the world.
