Cafe & amp; Shop Oh sorry yes just write a blog again! So, I want to take you to a cool place in Jakarta. I love to visitSemasa Café and Shop in Olveh Building, Jakarta. Why this cafe is special for me? Quoted from National Geographic Indonesia, the Art-Deco-style building is the former office of the Dutch East Indies insurance company, Onderlinge Verzekeringsmaatschappij Eigen Hulp (OLVEH), built in 1921 and inaugurated in 1922.

For decades the building was left alone; maybe there is so many local also do not know much about the building because of its location which is opposite the city station; not in Fatahillah building area which is a center of old city.

On March 17, 2016, Olveh building reborn. It is the idea of Che Wei with Jakarta Old Town Revitalization Corporation (JOTRC) and Bhirawa Architects consultants who have sought the conservation and preservation of the Olveh Building.

The Olveh building is often used for creative exhibitions , it's also being my reason to visit Semasa Café. The cafe is open daily, but only until 18.00. The atmosphere of the cafe is very artsy because it is an old building. Believe me, you will fall in love when you first come there.

All of these drinks range from IDR 25-50.000. So affordable, right? Over all, Semasa Café and Shop really suit for you guys to writing, reading, and having a tea time. In addition, you can reflect on Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. There is an interesting story behind the revitalization of the Olveh Building.

At that time, JOTRC found that the ground floor of the Olveh Building was parallel to the road surface, but the ceiling distance was lower than the distance at the second and third floor ceilings. They found that the original floor of this building is almost a meter above the current road surface. It means Jakarta's soil has been continuously heightened to avoid flooding.

So what can we do? Perhaps the easiest thing is to throw the garbage in its place. Simple but can bring big impact.
