Today, we live in a world, where there is too much violence, too much depression and too much competition. None of the listed help make our world more peaceful or more enjoyable to live in. People have become more and more stressed and the struggle for power has destroyed business, taken away lives and has left many of us standing alone with nothing. Is this the World we want our kids to live in? Personally, I'd like my kids to experience the World differently and these are my steps towards a better world:

Open mindedness

Being open minded and interested in learning different cultures enriches our lives and helps us understand certain life situations that people are in all over the world. We should search for answers by travelling and experiencing everything first hand, instead of listening to what media wants us to hear. If we are so powered by media, why do we still claim to have our own opinions?

Societal Pressures

Society shapes our opinions and ideas today more than it should. Society also dictates what should be the right path for us to follow. For instance, some people would like to have a job that they like instead of a job that will allow them make millions over night. However, they might forego a happy life or a relaxing job and opt for a stressful job, earn a lot of money and put their health in danger. The society tells us that at a certain age we have to get married and not believing in marriage is crime. Is it though? Aren't we all entitled to our opinion regardless of what society thinks?

Technology advances are way ahead to what people are ready for. Today, technology consumes at least 80% of our time. At work we use computers and emails and when we get home we spend hours on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social media. When I was a child, I used to spend hours in the backyard playing games with my neighbours until late at night and spending time in actual reality. Today, children know how to operate iPads, iPhones, etc. at the age of 3 and live in a virtual reality. Technology advances stress us to catch up to them all the time, this is partially why people are always on edge, as they are always connected. Would not some time offline do us all some good?

I don't know how the world will be like in 10 years from now, but I am certain that I will give my children a childhood, where to "share" means sharing a bread with your friend, a "like" means that you have feelings for someone and a "follow" will make my daughter be cautious when walking alone at night.
