I don’t think so. With proper planning coupled with a lot of self confidence and common sense, women can take care of themselves wherever they go. That is why for women out there who want to take a trip on their own, I want to share some helpful safety tips. Do you want to travel? Go abroad? Go on adventure on your own? Then, you should go! I believe that life is too short to spend it in one place only. So, travel as much as you can, as far as you can and as long as you can. However, being a woman makes you an easy target to some dangers. To avoid this, learn some tips that will help keep you safe on travel. The following are safety tips that can make a big difference between an awesome trip and a disaster. Dress Properly. Try not to attract attention by dressing properly. Remember that when travelling to a foreign land, the culture of people might be different from what you used to. Do a little research about the place you’re going to visit and try to follow their rules. Do not dress like a person with a lot of money instead, dress casually. Upon arriving at your destination, check out how the locals dress and try to fit in. Do not wear expensive jewelries and accessories that projects wealth. Avoid wearing your most expensive watch, rings, necklaces and other accessories that spoke money. Avoid listing your home address on your luggage. When travelling for business, use the company address instead. Avoid bringing too much cash. If you have a credit card, just bring the amount you think you will need for the whole trip then do other purchases using credit cards. Anyways, if there are ATM machines you can replenish cash when you run out of it. It is important to inform at least one or two people about your trip. Inform someone about the place you’re going to visit, where you’re going to stay and for how long. If you went into trouble at least there is someone who will inform the authorities. Bring your identification cards, driver’s license and other legal papers but make sure to make a copy of them then keep the original papers somewhere safe. Most importantly, don’t make yourself an easy target. Ask for directions from hotel staff instead of people in the streets. When walking on streets, be aware of your surroundings. It would help a lot if you have a map with you. Then walk with purpose and with confidence. Let the people believe that you know your way around even if you don’t have a clue where you’re actually going. Women who travel alone should be ready for everything. Always remember that the more you know, the safer you’ll be.
