"Air travel reminds us who we are. It’s the means by which we recognize ourselves as modern. The process removes us from the world and sets us apart from each other." -Don DeLillo, The Names

Hi Readers,

We were at the airport recently and while waiting for boarding, we sat beside this woman in her late 40's. We didn't care much about other people's business except that this woman had something to say for every person who passed by. One other woman, also in her late 40's emerged out of the arrival gate. She was wearing a little, black dress with a black vest over, and paired the ensemble with black heels. Turning to her friend, the woman beside us suddenly exclaimed, "She's wearing heels while I'm in my pajamas."

This statement got us into thinking, is there such thing as airport fashion? Do we follow a set of criteria on what or what not to wear? Do we go for style or for comfort knowing that we are only going to sit down for hours anyway?

We had the chance to interview our favorite fashionista, Aubrey Miles. With over 277,000 followers on instagram, she is best known in the Philippine entertainment scene as a versatile actress and a certified fitness trainer. Blessed with killer, goddess-like curves even after being married and having 2 kids, she is #bodygoals and has proven that being sexy is a matter of discipline and of choosing the right lifestyle. But what we love about her, fitness aside, is her exquisite sense of style as shown in her instagram feed. She is a constant traveler and her airport fashion is something one wouldn't want to miss.

G&G: Miss Aubrey, we are avid followers of your style -- like how you effortlessly dress up in airports as if the airport is a runway.

Aubrey Miles: Yes, I like dressing up when I fly.

G&G: Do you have a particular style when flying? Or does your outfit depend on where you are going?

Aubrey Miles: I like colorful outfits when I fly. I like it loose but still stylish. Yes, it depends on where I'm going. I know flying could be sometimes boring so I like to wear something fun.

G&G: Do you plan your outfits days ahead or do you just wear whatever you find in your closet and just mix and match?

Aubrey Miles: I plan my outfit days before my flight. I always bring a blazer, jacket or something warm just in case. Something to keep me warm.

G&G: Knowing that flights can be very long, do you prioritize style or comfort, or both?

Aubrey Miles: Both. I like dressing up when I fly, matching my luggage and my handbag. Plus, I always bring extra clothes. It depends on how long the flight is. If it's more than 7 hours, I bring my matching sweat pants. Juicy Couture is my favorite sweat pants for sleeping.

G&G: What is basically the reason why you put a lot of thought into what you wear?

Aubrey Miles: I wear for fun. I don't wear sweats in the airport. I change inside the plane if it's a long flight then I change back to my first outfit before we land. I don't mind people dressing up in the airport. Sometimes, I bring heels in my carry-on especially when I know I have to go straight to lunch or dinner with friends, or business talks.

G&G: Who is your style icon?

Aubrey Miles: I like the Kardashians and Jessica Alba. I'm not sure if they are style icons but I like the personality more and how they carry themselves like it's nobody's business. Jessica Alba is my best icon because she can do anything -- family, showbusiness, fashion, business and she can still stay normal at the same time.

G&G: What is your message to the readers and aspiring fashionistas regarding airport fashion?

Aubrey Miles: For me, they shouldn't be scared of dressing up especially at the airport. It's always good to stand out and there's nothing wrong with that. The airport is not your home, try not to wear sweats (haha). Wear something comfortable if you wish to, but try to have some fun with it. Airports could be boring so don't be afraid to have some fun.

Readers, that was the end of our interview with the certified fashionista, Aubrey Miles. After this interview, we could definitely say that yes, Airport Fashion is a thing. Whether you like it stylish or you lean towards comfort, there is nothing wrong with hitting two birds with one stone, right? You get the best of both worlds and that's something people can always identify you with. Like what Coco Chanel said, "Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman."

We would like to thank Aubrey Miles for sharing her style suggestions on this matter. She is one of the most humble celebrities we have ever known. It is an honor to have met such a well-rounded person who is truly an inspiration to all the women today. Follow Aubrey Miles on Instagram at milesaubrey for fitness and fashion inspirations.

Sending love your way,
