I find it disheartening that our nation and our nation's leaders find it difficult to lay aside their positions for the good of the whole… Jesus said in Mark 3:24-25, “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

President-elect Donald Trump’s authority has been established by God whether many accept it or not. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) is a respected leader who walked beside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr who fought for the civil rights of all and has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011 for a lifetime of civil rights work.  I don't believe that boycotting the inauguration or the war on Twitter is the answer. We the people shouldn’t have to choose sides, but if you do please choose righteousness.

The Word of God says all authority is given by God. The authorities that exist have been established by God whether we like them or like it or not. That makes President-elect Trump's presidency legitimate. No matter how much anyone boycotts or protest that will not change. “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” (Romans 13:1)

If we are indeed one nation under God, then we respect what God says in His Word we should pray for our leaders to lay aside their positions and unite together to lead our country.  It is a Biblical command. There are bigger battles to fight. We know from Scripture that God can turn the hearts of kings (Proverbs 21:1)

We should be praying for God’s will to be done and for our leaders to seek God and listen to Him. We should pray that they would be surrounded by godly counsel and, most important, that our leadership would personally know God and the salvation found through faith in Jesus Christ alone.  When we pray according to the will of God, He hears us and answers our prayers.

"The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them." (Psalm 11:4)

You answer our prayers with amazing wonders and with awe-inspiring displays of power. You are the righteous God who helps us like a Father. Everyone everywhere looks to you, for you are the confidence of all the earth, even to the fartherest islands of the sea. What jaw-dropping, astounding power is yours! You are the Mountain-Maker who sets them all in place. You muzzle the roar of the mighty seas and the rage of mobs with their noisy riots. O God, to the fartherest corners of the planet, people will stand in awe, startled and stunned by your signs and wonders. Sunrise brilliance and sunset beauty both take turns singing their songs of joy to you. Your visitations of glory bless the earth; the rivers of God overflow and enrich it. You paint the wheat fields golden as you provide rich harvests. Every field is watered with the abundance of rain – showers soaking the earth and softening its clods, causing seeds to sprout.” Psalm 65:5-10 (The Passion Translation)

We have the victory in Jesus Christ!
