Androgel is a medication that is basically used for the treatment of men who have testosterone deficiency. Testosterone being the male hormone produces the male physical characteristics and increases the sex drive in males. This medication will replace the testosterone that would be produced normally by the body. But androgel must be used only if the deficiency has been confirmed by its symptoms and blood tests.

In what forms does the medication come in?: Androgel is available as a gel in a pump bottle or unit dose packages which are 2.5 g or 5 g per packet. Each gram consists of colourless, clear, fragrance – free, hydroalcoholic gel which contains 1% testosterone. You can buy this at geekmeds store.

How should the medication be used?

The normal dose which is recommended is Androgel 5g, which contains 50 mg testosterone which needs to be applied daily, preferably in the morning after shower. If you use the pump, you need to make sure that you know how many pumps need to be used per application. There are some people who might need up to 10 g once in a day.

The gel needs to be applied to a clean and dry area of a non – broken area of the skin on the shoulders, upper arms or the abdomen. The gel should not be applied to any genitals or any skin that is broken or damaged. After the gel is applied to the skin, allow it to dry for some time and then cover it with clothing. Make sure you wash your hands well after the use of the medication so that it does not come in contact with other people’s skin.

There are various things that can actually affect the dose of the medication that a person needs like the body weight and other medical conditions. Your doctor will recommend you the dosage, do not alter that and do not stop the medication until the doctor asks you to. The medications needs to be taken exactly as per the prescription the doctor has given you.

In case you have missed and it has been more than 12 hours until your next dose, you need to apply the dose that you have missed as soon as possible and then continue with your next schedule. If it is less than 12 hours until your next dose, skip the dose that you have missed and continue with your regular dosage. Make sure that you do not apply a double dose to make up for the dose that you have missed.
