I recently picked up a short book by David Powlison called Anger: Escaping The Maze. It was written as one of the Resources For Changing Lives which The Christian Counselling and Education Foundation publishes. And it really is very good and helpful, it challenges the myth that anger is a thing separate to ourselves, that anger isn't our fault, and that it is built up and should be released or exorcised to be rid of it. What he brings to light is that anger is something we must repent of. It is something to combat whilst going to God in prayer. That is what this poem is based upon.

Anger Is A Moral Issue

Furious blunted fist of anger
Breaking and breaking and breaking and
Who doesn't hate themselves? Just a bit?
Something sits off centre on the soul
And round it rolls in turmoiled guilt-sea.
