It’s funny how I surprise myself sometimes. As if it wasn’t me talking.

During my 2nd year college, we had a group discussion about goals. The usual ‘what are your short / long term goals?’, ‘how do you achieve it?’, and ‘why do you have a goal?’. The third question struck me.

Why do I have a goal anyway?”

For my family? Friends? To make them happy? To make everyone proud? And? -It’s common to share those, I know there’s something more than these. I tried to look at the bigger picture.

We were given 5 minutes to think, and another 5 minutes to share it with our groupmates. It was my turn, I answered the first two questions. As I was about to share the third, I took a deep breathe and had a smile on my face.

“I have my goals because I want to be inspired, and be able to inspire other people. Also, having clear goals helps you decide without difficulty.”

The rest is self-explanatory.

You, why do you have a goal?
