When Ben Affleck was first cast for the role of Batman in Batman v. Superman, the internet was ablaze with cheers and jeers alike.  However, once the movie was released the debate was settled: Affleck was brilliant.

It didn't surprise anyone when DC announced a Batman solo film that would be starring Ben Affleck (who is also writing and directing it). Ever since that information was released, fans have been contemplating what the plot would be for the DCEU.

Now, Affleck has been asked what comic storyline he is going to pull from in a recent interview with the Spanish news outlet Cines Argentinos, and this was his response:

"I think what I would do is, I would probably do in some ways what Zach [Snyder] did with this movie, which is to borrow stories from the great comic books, but create an original story around it.  I wouldn't want fans to already know the story, but I would borrow -- steal -- great things that have been done before in the comics."

This promises a new story rather than one solely based on the comics.  Some fans are going to be very disappointed considering great stories like Under The Red Hood, Hush,  and Knightfall being some of the most beloved, but they could be getting parts of all of them.

The Arkham Asylum video game series proves that original stories in the Batman universe can be a hit.  Gamers and comic book fans alike have embraced the story of these games because it portrays The Dark Knight perfectly.

We will just have to wait and see, but with Affleck at the helm, a lot of people have complete faith in the project and the outcome.
