When most people think about Los Angeles, their minds immediately go to Hollywood celebrities, sunny skies, and heavy traffic. Los Angeles is also home to some of southern California’s best golf courses, too. With over 300 days of sunshine and nearly non-existent cold fronts, this city and the surrounding area is perfect for play, no matter if you’re a seasoned pro or you’re more of a casual player. Here are some of the best golf courses to play if you’re looking for a great golf experience in the Los Angeles area. As a bonus just outside of Los Angeles is wine country so you can also check out the best Temecula golf courses.

Angeles National Golf Club

The only course in LA designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Angeles National Golf Club is located right at the foot of the Angeles National Forest. Angeles National is an 18-hole, par-72 course that offers 4 sets of tees at every hole. This provides every golfer, from beginning to professional, an enjoyable challenge. The course features generous fairways with spectacular views. It was ranked in the Top 30 Best New Courses Worldwide, and well as one of the Top 10 Best New Course/Resorts in the United States by Travel and Leisure. Angeles National also has a Spanish mission style clubhouse that includes a pro shop, a snack bar, a bar, and a restaurant.

Trump National Golf Club

Perched high above the cliffs, the Trump National Golf Club offers some of the most incredible ocean views on the entire west coast. It is noted as one of the most expensive golf courses ever built, costing over $250 million. Designed by Pete Dye, the layout features massive bunkers and white sands, and provides a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. Playing the course may cost a bit more than some of the other courses in LA, but it is a real testament to the greatness of the game.

Los Verdes Golf Club

Spanning 6,617 yards and multiple elevation changes, the Los Verdes Golf Club is located above the Golden Cove and Point Vicente Lighthouse. Featuring an open layout and gorgeous ocean views, the course offers a significant challenge. The most challenging hole of the entire course is the fourth, a 441-yard par-4 that hugs the cliffs high above the water. The club also boasts two large putting greens for practice, individual and group instruction, and a golf camp for junior golfers. Many consider to be the Los Verdes Golf Club one of the best values anywhere.

Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms

The Industry Hills Golf Club features two courses, the Eisenhower Course and the Zaharias Course. With a total of 36 holes, this golf club offers breathtaking views and rewarding play on one of California’s most noteworthy public courses. The Eisenhower Course, nicknamed “the Ike,” offers up to 7,211 yards of challenging play. The Zaharias Course, or “the Babe,” welcomes players of all skill levels on a long, narrow design that makes the most of 650 acres. You will also find comprehensive practice facilities and world-class resort amenities to meet your needs.
