Hi guys!

Everyone needs a little sugar every once in a while. I am a sweet tooth and I love ice cream. Naturally, I needed to know where to satisfy my sugar craving in New York City. I have visited quite a few places, some well-known, others not so much. You guys seemed to love my Must Visit Coffee Shops in New York, so now I will tell you all about my favorite places to satisfy my sweet tooth in New York.

Magnolia Bakery

This might be New York's best known bakery. Magnolia Bakery was made famous by the TV series Sex in the City. The small store in Greenwich Village is very cute and totally picture perfect, both outside and inside. You can go here for cupcakes, cakes and other pastries. My favorite is their Banana Pudding. It might not sound very appealing, but trust me it is delicious. There are chucks of banana and cake in the pudding. Everyone who likes bananas only a little bit, will love this pudding. They also have a bigger store in the Upper West Side where you can sit down if you want, but for those of you who want to see the Magnolia Bakery from Sex in the City, you should go to Greenwich Village. And Carrie's place is around the corner, if you want to take a photo in front of it.

Dough Doughnuts

Doughnuts have never been my favorite sweet treat, but when I saw the gorgeous doughnuts from Dough Doughnuts at Smorgasburg I had to try one. I ordered their Mocha-Almond Crunch and it was so good. Fortunately, they also have a shop in Chelsea, so you don’t have to wait for the weekend to go to Smorgasburg, which is a weekly food festival in Brooklyn. The doughnuts at Dough Doughnuts are a lot bigger than the ones I had eaten before and they are also less compact. If I could have their doughnuts every day without getting fat, I would, because they are just so delicious. I would encourage everyone to stop by Dough Doughnuts for what will probably be the best doughnut you have ever had.

Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

Like I said, I love ice cream. One of the best place to go is Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. They offer classic flavors like vanilla, strawberry or coffee and they make them like no other. I love their coffee ice cream; I think it is the best. I really like Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory because you get a lot of ice cream for the price you are paying. New York City is expensive in general, but here you only pay $6 for two really big scoops, which is a really good deal. Another thing that makes this place so great is that once you have your ice cream, you can sit by the water and look out over the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan.

One Girl Cookies

While you are in DUMBO, Brooklyn for ice cream you should stop by One Girl Cookies for a whoopie pie (or two). I had no idea what a whoopie pie was, but it sounded like something I needed to try and someone told me I had to go to One Girl Cookies for the best. And they were right! You can choose between pumpkin and chocolate, but of course I tried both. The pumpkin whoopie pie is definitely my favorite, but the chocolate one is also good. Now it is fall, so it is the perfect time to go to One Girl Cookies for a latte and a pumpkin whoopie pie.

Georgetown Cupcakes

Maybe you know Georgetown Cupcakes from the TV show at TLC; well, this is their store in New York City. I have tried some cupcakes in the city, but none were as good as the ones from Georgetown Cupcakes. They offer classic flavors and they have some seasonal cupcakes as well. Their cupcakes are a bit smaller than I thought they would be, but because they taste so good I do not mind. I love that they put a lot of frosting in top, because honestly that is my favorite part of a cupcake. The red velvet and carrot cake cupcakes are the best.

Ample Hills Creamery

Unlike Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, Ample Hills Creamery is the best in creating unique flavors. They give their flavors very creative names too, like Ooey Gooey Butter Cake or The Raw Deal for example. I am obsessed with cinnamon, so I had to get Nonna D’s Oatmeal Lace, which is cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal lace cookies. It was one of the best ice creams I have ever had. Be aware that if you order a small ice cream, you will get two very big scoops so it is actually not small at all. Ample Hills Creamery has a few locations in New York, one of them is in Meatpacking District and it look just like you walked into the 60s.

There you have it; the best spots in New York to satisfy any sweet tooth. Whether you are craving ice cream of doughnuts, I got you covered. If you are visiting the city, you should definitely go to at least one of these places. I think the best way to experience New York is by going to places locals love and not just visit the touristic hot spots.

Love!
