The spoiler version of this review appears on my blog at:

Hello! Today we will be discussing Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, the second installment to the Throne of Glass series. This series is set in a high fantasy world. It focuses on a kickass assassin named Celaena Sardothien who is entered into this competition with other assassins, thieves and the like to become the King's Champion. It is fabulous and I highly recommend it. While this review will not spoil you for Crown of Midnight, it most definitely will spoil you for Throne of Glass, so unless you want to be spoiled, you probably should not keep reading this.

"An assassin's loyalties are always in doubt, but her heart never wavers.

Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King’s Champion. But she is far from loyal to the crown. Though she hides her secret vigilantly, her deadly charade becomes difficult when she realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. No one is above questioning her allegiance—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie … and whom she is willing to fight for.”

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed reading this book. I just really enjoyed learning all the things I can't discuss. I loved all of the battle scenes, all the immense character development we see through the course of this novel, and just in general, I loved how this book made me feel a lot of things. I loved the writing, and how we learned who Celaena really is. I especially loved how we got to see the friendship between Nehemia and Celaena develop. Their friendship is such a unique one and I really enjoyed it. I just flew through this book so quickly, and I really loved it. It was so good!

I gave this book 5/5 stars.

What's your favorite part about this world? Mine is definitely the magic and intrigue we see throughout the world. It fascinates me! But that is going to be it for this review. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
