In June 2005, I was coming back to the U.S. from Italy via Amsterdam where I had to go through a security checkpoint with my family. I was standing with my sister while a security agent checked our bags.

"Are you part of a club?" The security agent pointed to my sister and me.

"Club? Huh? No," I said, confused. "She's my sister."

He replied, "You are wearing crosses. Are you with a group? Your crosses." He pointed to where one would have been hanging around his neck, then to the crosses around ours. He looked to my mom who held up her Jerusalem cross necklace, smiling.

"In the U.S., wearing crosses is a common practice of Christians. It is common. Many people wear crosses," I managed to say, tired from travel and equally perplexed by this peculiar fellow asking strange questions. Here's one: What planet are you from? This is Earth's Salvation History.

"Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you." 1 Peter 3:15 ...Yeah, I can't say that I was prepared.

Christianity in the Netherlands is dwindling; the majority of the population is agnostic. Religion is a private matter not to be expressed in public, a sentiment that is true for the rest of Europe. Europeans are succumbing to a more secular culture.

With Political Islam on the rise in Europe, secularism--and socialism, for that matter--are putting Europeans at a disadvantage. Migrants from the Middle East and North Africa are rejecting assimilation because of Al-Hijra (the Arabic term for conquest through immigration). Europeans are paying for them via socialist policies as well as through increased crime rates. Sweden is the rape capital of the West in the wake of weak immigration policy and ignorance of Islamism/Sharia Law. One in four Swedish women are raped. Cologne, Germany's 2016 New Year celebrations crashed by Taharrush (the Arabic term for sexual assault of a woman carried out by a large group of men) shocked the West.

Recent terrorist attacks strike blows to the Europeans' way of life. Europe is in a different kind of war, one of ideology. The pervading lack of belief in anything bigger than themselves will make fighting that war difficult. They will lose without God, without the Cross. Eventually European countries may need military support, but for now, they need missionaries.

"Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6: 10-18)
