Day one of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge for January. I'm one of over 1000 artists participating in it. There's usually a couple a year that you can participate in. I participated in the January 2016 one. There was another one last fall, but I was too busy to do a painting every day. I decided to do small canvases for the challenge. This first one is 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" Acrylic on canvas. They also have magnets on the back of them. They would be good for the refrigerator, locker, anything metal really you would like to add a little personal style to. Once the challenge is over I will post them in my Etsy shop.

The whole theme i'm sticking with is floral for the challenge. The first piece is called "Cherry Blossom". It's on a 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" wood framed canvas done in Acrylic. I did the trunk with a small palette knife the used a size 4 and size 2/0 to add highlights and shading on the trunk. I used a size 10/0 for the flower petals then the size 2/0 for the stamens and the pollen on the stamens. I did a neutral background so the flowers would pop! I'm happy with the outcome. I hope you enjoy! I'll provide a link to where you can sign up to participate if you want. It's OK if you missed a day.
