Hello Darling,

Today I will be reviewing the Ultra Matte Liquid Lip by ColourPop Cosmetics. I had been hearing about these lippies for the longest time, and I finally decided to see what all the hype was about.Since these were my first purchases from ColourPop I only bought 4 shades because I didn't want to go overboard if I didn't like them. So if you want to get a little insight, review and swatches on these babies then keep reading and dont forget to like, comment, and subscribe!

So I purchased 4 Ultra Matte Lippies in the shades: TrapKapowMidi and Lumiere 2. The packaging isn't spectacular, it is a simply plastic tube with a silver twist of applicator. Along the side of the plastic tube it has "ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip" written in their signature iridescent color.

  1. Lumiere 2

Lumiere 2 is a pinky mauve tone. When looking at it on the ColourPop website it does look slightly more purple however it is more pink realistically. It is still a very gorgeous shade, but I just wanted to point that out. One thing that stood out to me is  it tends to dry more slowly. I feel the others mattify instantly and this one takes a bit longer. It isn't that big of a deal though, I just put some powder over it to help it dry and it works like magic. I love to wear this color when I wear neutral/nude eye-look to spice it up and add a bit of pink to my lips.

2. Trap

Trap is a dusty greyed out beige although it does look darker in person than what it seems on the website. I was kind of disappointed because I really thought it was going to be a beautiful shade of grey, and it was not. Don't get me wrong, I still use this lippie when I am feeling fierce because I do like it, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. As you can see in the picture, in natural light, it looks more like a mauvey brown with a hint of grey undertone. But one thing to keep in mind is that shades look different on all skin tones and my skin tone is on the lighter, ivory side of the spectrum. I love to wear this shade with green hues, I think hunter green, olive's and sage's compliment this color well.

3. Midi

Midi definitely looks more like a baby pink online but for me, it does not look like that at all. It is a nude color with salmon undertones. I have fallen in love with this shade and it is one of my top favorite nudes in my collection. I was bummed in the beginning because I thought it was going to be baby pink but it worked out in my favor because I actually love the shade on me. I love to wear this shade on an everyday basis, with light styles of makeup.

4. Kapow

Kapow was very true to color in comparison to the online image. It is a very muted-dark greyish taupe. the color tends to darken a bit when it dries, which is not a problem for me because I bought this shade specifically for how dark it appeared online. I love to wear this shade when I am felling fierce and want to compliment my dark smokey eye.

When first applying these lippies I thought they were terrible because the flaked and were super drying on the lips. But then, I remembered I need to exfoliate the lips before application and man did that fix a lot. I applied Rosebud Salve: All purpose skin preparation to my lips and then applied the liquid lipstick and the finish was so smooth and streak free.

Disclaimer: The ColourPop website does suggest to always exfoliate the lips before application. This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips smoothly and leaves SUPER intense pigment-rich color with a bold, ultra matte look. It's very long wearing and completely kiss proof! We suggest storing these babies upright and shaking before application!

What do you guys think? Has anyone noticed the color differences or is it just me? lol
