I once saw a bumper sticker that read ‘Jesus is my copilot’.  At first I thought how cute, then I realized how silly.  I would not want Him to be my copilot.  That would mean I want to take control and only allowing Him to take over when I ask Him to because I realize I am in trouble.  I would rather He be my pilot.  Let Him fly the plane and let me come along for the ride.  With Jesus as the pilot I can sit back and relax and have no worries.  Even if it seems stormy and bumpy, if He is the pilot I should really have no concerns.

There is an old hymn written by Edward Hopper titled ‘Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me’.  The verses talk of all the concerns a person may have about the troubles they may encounter in this life.  The very last line of the song gives comfort when suggests a response Jesus may give.  “Fear not, I will pilot thee”.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (KJV)
