For those of you who read my blog on WordPress, you'll remember that I had a crazy idea last week. It was to become a professional book reviewer. Well, I've got the ball in motion if you will. Two of my writer friends were looking for reviews and I jumped on the requests. I also joined a site that requests reviews. (Now I just have to find the time to read all of these books!) Now, comes the work. What do I do? Obviously I know that I have to read their manuscripts and give my opinion. But should I include quotes/excerpts? And what should I do if I don't like their work? I'm not going to lie and automatically give them good reviews just because I should, but at the same time a negative review kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? What I need to do, I think, is set up some personal requirements so I don't wind up getting weird stuff. What kinds of things do you think I should ask? I have a few ideas but I don't want to seem to demanding.
