The people that make up crossword puzzles amaze me.  They take over a hundred words, overlap with a minimum of spaces and everything fits onto the grid.  If even one word does not line up with the ones around it the crossword does not work.  Every word is carefully chosen and placed to complete an interlocking grid of seemingly unrelated words.

I can’t help but see the similarities between these works and the promises of God.  His promises are interwoven throughout His entire Word and they too intertwine with and cross each other.  One promise leads you to another promise, and that one to another.  The intent of one promise is also mentioned in another.  All of His promises fit together to make one wonderful, gigantic promise.

In John 14:23 Jesus says, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (KJV)  That just about sums up all His promises.  If we love Him, we will keep His word.  In return the Father will love us, then He and the Father will come to and make their habitation in us.  How wonderful is that!
