For my final instalment of Cruise Guide I want to discuss all the ways to beat boredom, because when you're not eating or exploring foreign islands, you'll be onboard looking for things to do.

There is a never-ending supply of activities ready for your disposal, catering to all individuals from toddler aged to seniors. The tricky part is finding where to start. Most of the entertainment is free and included in your fare, some of though may require booking a place or arriving early to get a place.

Live Music

Growing up in Melbourne, live music has always been a huge part of my life. Since moving from Melbourne, there have been fewer opportunities to go to live gigs, that's why before setting off on Pacific Dawn, I decided I wanted to spend most of my time surrounded by music. All cruise ships have different entertainers onboard but I want to give a few quick mentions to some of the entertainers I got to see was pianists, Keiren Bailey and Emily Marguerite and sweet, folky duo Jitensha.

All cruise ships have different entertainers onboard but I want to give a few quick mentions to some of the entertainers I got to see through P&O for sharing their talents which you can find (with videos) at the bottom of the page.

Like the food some you'll like better than others, but it was obvious P&O had collected a team of talented and professional musicians that are great at what they do and love sharing their talents.

Casino

I am not a gambler, but it was obvious that a lot of cruise-goers are so I think it's important to include for that reason. If you're an amateur like me and looking to try your luck there are gaming lessons for beginners and in addition to a huge collection of pokie machines, there are blackjack and roulette tables to try your luck on. From the casino too, you can purchase lottery and snowball bingo tickets.

Movies & TV

On the Lido Deck, you can find the big screen and sprawl out on a deck chair while enjoying recent release movies or catch up on sports. The cinema too is another place you can kick back and enjoy more movies or for further sports catch ups you can head over to the casino. Movies can be accessed too through your cabin's television.

Onboard Classes

Want to learn how to speed up your metabolism? The power of natural healing? How to dance or knit? Your cruise could be the place to do it. From what I know, most, if not all of the classes are a part of your fare but for more in-demand classes you might need to book in or arrive early for a place. This is a great way to meet new people and learn a new skill in the process and who doesn't love that.

Onboard Parties

Onboard you can spend your nights dancing away at one of the many themed parties. Complete with costumes, cocktails, and music, partying never got this good.

  • Bianco white party - everyone dresses up in crisp whites and dances away poolside.
  • Back to school party - old school classics and lots of ties and tartan skirts.
  • Gatsby  party - feathers and glitter everywhere and of course swing music and lots of dancing. The Gatsby party is the high-end cocktail party you cannot miss.

Kids Entertainment

There are four different groups offering age-specific and supervised activities just for kids. The kid's clubs are included in your fare and run late giving adults or parents security to relax knowing their little ones are safe and having a good time. This is an excellent way for children to meet people their own age and engage in heaps of activities like movie and game nights, jam sessions, arts and crafts and so much more. Similar to how children can't hang out in bars or the casino, the club rooms for kids are closed to parents too, offering them their own space.

P&O's Biggest Adventure Park at Sea

This is P&O's best as far as activities go and remains Australia's largest adventure park at sea. There are heaps of adrenaline pumping activities like zip lining across the top deck and rock climbing on the very top of the ship for anyone looking for an action packed holiday.
