In 1964, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas recorded a song titled ‘Dancing in the Streets’.  Two lines of the song catch my attention. “Summer's here and the time is right for dancin' in the street” and “it doesn't matter what you wear, just as long as you are there.”  I can see the reason to celebrate; warmth, holidays, beaches.  It really does seem appropriate to dance and not worry about what others think for no other reason that we are happy because summer is here.

Why should we not do the same on Sunday.  I would like to change that first line above to, ‘God is here and the time is right for dancing everywhere.’  The second line does not need to change.

We need to realize that God is with us everywhere we go and we need to dance in His presence.  It may be in church, it may be on the streets, or it may be a place where we can lose ourselves in His creation.  God is here in our presence.  If that is not a reason to dance I’m not sure what is.
