Procrastination is something I am all too familiar with. I think I mastered this art when I got into highschool. Man.. If they gave grades for how good you would procrastinate I would have had straight A's! (Sorry mom and dad). I would wait till the night of anything homework, tests, projects and be struggling until late at night. And then if you were studying you literally do not remember a single thing you read. I mean I reaaally had the desire to study earlier, or do my homework, but I just found something more important at that moment!

But don't judge me... I know you have done it too...

It's interesting though because when we procrastinate or defer to do our homework, study, or whatever it is we are putting off, we have that gut feeling that we know what we need to do but we are choosing not to in that moment. We may want to do that thing, but just not right now. Maybe later.. and then that turns into maybe in a few hours, then those hours pass and then you say "eh well I'll start soon after I do this other thing".. And the cycle goes on and on. Trust me, I am familiar with this! I mean I don't want to be and I am working on it but we as humans like to put stuff off.. even when we know it's important.

I came across this verse about a week ago and have really been thinking on it:

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

Two words really stuck out to me when I read them, deferred & desire. So I prayed about it and thought what does this really mean. I'll give you the dictionary definition and just share my thoughts on it.

Deferred: Put off, Postpone.
Desire: Long for, wish to obtain, focused passion

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick" Remember what I was talking about a little earlier about that feeling in your gut when you know you are supposed to be doing something but you are choosing to do other wise? There's a question that I asked myself and I will ask you:

Are you putting off or deferring the calling on your life?

I think that the deferring of a call on our lives makes our heart sick because we are not fully functioning in God intended for us to be.

Now that word calling can be a really broad word to something that needs to be specific in our lives. I believe that your calling is that desire that God has put in your heart. It's the thing in you that keeps you up at night. It's that thing you know you would like to do but maybe "you'll never be able to", or you're not qualified for, or someone at some time told you that you'll never be that. But you long for it, you want to be doing that thing..

I know I am speaking really broad here, but you fill that "thing" with your deepest desire, your biggest dream, and if you can't think of it right away take some time think about it, pray about it. It'll come..

For me, my desire is to be a pastor. But for so long I never thought I could be that. I was lead to believe by lies of the enemy, & comparison that I would never be good enough or wise enough. But those were lies and God set me free from those because I gave them to Him. I called them out specifically and said, "God take those lies away and give me the truth in who you say I am". Now I am not trying to obtain a position or have some stage, but I pray and ask God, "How can I be a pastor right now, in this moment, in this time that you have me in."

Instead of us deferring or putting off what we desire to do, how about we look at it as how can we start doing those things now. You may not operate or be fully walking in that desire or it may not look how you want it to right now. But if you are open to see God use you in your biggest desires, start by doing what you can NOW.

Take a second & when you pray this put those desires you have in the prayer call them out specifically

"God, Thank you for the desires you have put in my heart, thank you that you have set me apart and have a calling on my life. Remove any lies the enemy has tried to tell me and convince me of, as well as anyone I might compare myself to. I pray that you would use me in this time, in this season, right where you have me now to walk out the desires and dreams you have put in my heart. How can I do that now, show me practical ways I can Lord. Thank you, In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"But when a desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life"

A desire, a longing for, a focused passion on what God wants and has had planned for us is where our heart needs to be set at.

I think that when we start to say, "God what can I do with you instead of what do you have for me", I think everything changes in that moment, because God intended us to walk with Him, do everything with Him. Do those big things we want to do for him but do them with Him as well because He is our strength, and through the power of the Holy Spirit in you, you can do those things.

Start Now. Release the lies, pains, doubts, fears, insecurities to God. Ask Him what you can do now. Pair up with God & the Holy Spirit.

You will be a tree of life, wherever you are, wherever you go.

Don't be intimidated by your desire or dreams, go after them. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you.

I'll leave you with a verse, Blessings -Louis

2nd Timothy 1:9-10(AMP)

for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life—a life set apart—a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit—we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago], 10 but now [that extraordinary purpose and grace] has been fully disclosed and realized by us through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus who [through His incarnation and earthly ministry] abolished death [making it null and void] and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel...
