Yesterday, Dev Hynes released his new album under moniker Blood Orange. The album is called "Freetown Sound" and it wasn't originally going to grace our lives until July 1.

This is Blood Orange's third album. It's available on all formats, including Spotify.

The album is warm and nostalgic while also authentically Dev Hynes. I would typically recommend my favorite tracks, but the entire album is worth a full run through, repetitively.

Each listen there's something you didn't hear the first time, or a feeling you didn't feel the last time.

"You’re just kind of listening to me thinking for 58 minutes," Dev Hynes told Pitchfork.

Hynes also says the album is about his parents, and agrees with Jason King that "'Freetown Sound' is a post-colonial album. It’s about decolonizing the mind, but also exploring what it means in 2016 as a black person to be moving through the world in the pursuit of liberation."

"Freetown Sound" features vocals, quotes and samples from Ava Raiin, Empress Of, Debbie Harry, BEA1991, Nelly Furtado, Kelsey Lu, Carly Rae Jepsen, Zuri Marley, Ashlee Haze, Venus Xtravaganza, Deana Lawson, Marlon Riggs, Angela Davis and Essex Hemphill, Vince Staples, Venus Xtravaganza, Ashlee Haze, De La Soul, according to Hynes via Twitter.

I'm IN LOVE with this album and it deserves to play through everyone's speakers, so listen to it.
