One of the countries that has definitely gained in popularity in recent years as a must-see tourist destination is Vietnam. Between its untouched nature, stunning beaches and amazing cuisine there is something for everyone in this beautiful Southeast Asian country. Now, before you embark on your adventure discovering everything Vietnam has to offer, take the time and read through this article, you will find some helpful tips that can help make your trip much more eventful and adventurous. So let’s start!

For families

If you are planning a family holiday in Vietnam there are several activities you should definitely include in your itinerary. Let’s start with some memorable family friendly Vietnam tours, like seeing Saigon sights on two wheels. Get around the city and visit all the essential sights on a motorbike driven by lovely and helpful Vietnamese ladies who will offer a unique perspective on culture and history. This is a safe and exciting way to get around the city for the entire family. The next  fun option on the list for both parents and kids is opting for a two or three-day Halong Bay cruise – you can relax in the sun, gaze at the scenery, maybe even read a book while your kids can spend time searching for the different shaped karsts, tasting delicious Vietnamese food or even learning Tai Chi on board. Finally, you can pay a family visit to Hoi An, a town of lanterns and enroll in a lantern-making workshop. It is a fun activity for the entire family and you get to take your handiwork home as a souvenir.

For couples

If you are looking for a romantic vacation with your loved one, Vietnam should definitely make the list when it comes to magical adventures. First of all, there is the option of renting a romantic hut on one of the beautiful Vietnamese beaches. Eating fresh fruit while enjoying the beautiful colours of the water stretching in front of you. What could possibly be more romantic. On the other hand, if you are a more adventurous couple, you might consider a drop into the world’s largest cave. The small town of Phong Nha is the epicentre for the area’s caving adventures. Here you can hire both guides and the gear you’ll need to descend into the caves. This is truly a unique experience and one that you shouldn't miss out on. Finally, if you want something a bit more couple-like, you can choose to find romance at Sapa’s love market. This market town of Sapa, first became popular as a French hill station in the 1930s. This stunning place boasts fabulous views of the Hoang Lien Mountains and is home to a colourful market attended by hill tribes from the surrounding countryside every Saturday.

One of the hidden traditions of this location is the Love Market, where Dao (and H’mong) men and women come from miles around to sing songs of love to each other. It was originally held at the end of trading at the Saturday markets, but due to the prying eyes of numerous tourists and intrusive photo-taking the tradition has been driven underground.

For adventure seekers

Finally, if you are an adrenaline junkie, who want to experience the most thrilling adventures Vietnam has to offer the following few endeavours should find their place in your itinerary. Let’s start with Mui Ne, the adventure sports capital of Vietnam, with some even claiming it for all of Asia. One of the must try activities here is definitely sandboarding. You should get there with the first rays of sun while the sand still isn’t too hot, and start practicing surfing and rolling down the dunes. Next on the list is canyoning, if you are brave enough, that is. Da Lat is the perfect place to learn the art of canyoning, providing easier routes and ideal half day tours while still offering routes that are not for the faint-hearted. Finally, you should definitely add scuba diving to your list. Considering that Vietnam is a relatively new destination for diving, new dive sites are continuously being discovered with pristine untouched waters. The peak of the diving season is from March to October and you can expect to see a rich reef life full of dugongs, bamboo sharks, basslets, barracuda and a variety of nudibranchs.

So now you are ready to set off on your Vietnam exploration journey. And as we have stated before, there is something for everyone and you won’t go home disappointed. And the best part is that there is a lot more that still remains to be discovered so you might actually find something magical and unexpected if you look close enough.
