I love working on little natural home made recipes that may help to banish nasty chemical and mineral oils to the everyday beauty regime. This last DIY can really enhance natural beauty yet remaining on the green friendly side.

I will never get tired of saying that both designer and drugstore make-up most of the time hide in their formulas toxic ingredients or simply synthetic components that you don't really want to have on your skin all day. On that subject I found this article very interesting.

Products like foundation and powder are on the top of my concerns since they lie on the skin for 8-12 hours every single day. Sometime the green alternatives are stored in your kitchen, so after some researches I made up this face powder concoction.

The staring ingredient is rice flour is used since ages as component of finishing powders for its well-known capacity of absorbing oils and brightening the complexion, plus rice powder holds amazing benefits for the skin being capable of treat blemishes and irritation while it take care of premature aging. In short, this is definitely something you want to wear on the skin all day long!

Oh, did I mention that rice powder is widely use in Asia for skin care and make-up, in fact it is the chef ingredient of Geisha's make-up and, despite the heavy powdered face, these asian beauties maintain perfect porcelain skin.

Since I love to experiment with clay, I add to my concoction some Kaolin clay, again this ingredient it is often used in organic make-up because of it works wonders in mattifying the skin and ensure smooth finish.

The cherry on the cake is a sprinkle of turmeric for a hint of yellow tint for duping the well-known banana powder, but if you prefer a translucent one feel free to skip this step.

Here's the recipe:

  • 1/2 tsp of rice flour
  • less of 1/2 tsp of kaolin clay
  • Add a sprinkle of turmeric (be careful this is a powerful yellow tint)

mix everything stirring well

P.s I add a 1/4 of tsp of coconut milk powder for extra moisturizing benefits

Hope you like it as much as I do!!
