When trying to decide where to buy makeup everyone asks themselves, "Is this product worth it?" Good question! I'm here to help you decide.

Recently, while cleaning out my makeup bag, I noticed my two red lipsticks looked extremely similar. I swatched them on my arm and sure enough they are exactly the same. The only difference is  that one was about $6 (Milani Matte Confident) and the other $20 (MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense).

Like any other girl, I talked to my friend about it. This lead to a whole discussion on what we buy at drug stores vs. what we are willing to splurge on at a makeup counter.

Unless you want some super special, limited addition color then don't buy high end lipstick. Drug store lipstick formulas are generally just as good as high end. They wear the same, and most don't transfer.

Two products that my friends told me to buy at drug stores is foundation and highlight. I cannot fully confirm this because I have not bought them. I believe her because her face makeup is flawless. Below is all other products you should buy at drug stores.

  • eyeliner (pencil, gel, liquid, etc.)
  • makeup brushes
  • primer
  • cleanser
  • moisturizer

I have found that Milani is the best drug store brand all around followed by NYX.

Admittedly, I am not as much of an expert on high end makeup because I just recently started purchasing them. One word, eyeshadow. Everything about them is so much better than drug store eyeshadows.

Also, blush and concealer you are better off buying high end.

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. Nobody is paying me to write this article nor did they send me makeup to sample.

There you have it. My two cents on the best places to buy makeup products. - R
