“The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.”
George Carlin

The holidays mean different things to different people.  If you’re not a ‘holiday person’ here are some tips to help you get through the celebrations:

  • Chinese food (the obvious).  According to Google Trends and GrubHub,  Chinese food remains the most popular type of food order on Christmas.  It truly is a day of community.
  • Write a letter to yourself that you can open during the next holiday season.   List 5 traits that helped you get through the year and 5 traits you hope to have that will get you through next year.
  • Volunteer.  Some of the best places to volunteer are:  Salvation Army.  Meals on Wheels.  Nursing homes.  If you’d prefer to volunteer from behind the scenes, baking baked goods and dropping them off at shelters or fire stations is always appreciated.
  • Watch Airplane.
  • Art.  Some good prompts are:  Paint your emotions.   Draw to music.  Create your own interpretation of a famous piece of art.

It’s important, especially if you are depressed around the holidays, to stay distracted. Moving forward sets you free.
