The Story of Moses, a Father’s Vision, and God’s Role in It.

When Moses was leading about 3 million Israelites out of Egypt, he must have experienced a lot of pressure. Moses led them away from the bondage they faced in Egypt, through the wilderness, and to the Promised Land. The journey was not easy for Moses, with millions of people constantly complaining and sinning against God. Just like any father, he tried his best to lead his family.

Fathers carry a lot of weight on their shoulders, trying to raise and hold the family together the best way they know how. Sometimes the challenges may seem too great and you feel like giving up. That is why it’s important for every father to have a firm relationship with our Heavenly Father. As long as a father makes God the foundation of his family’s life, they will always make it through.

Vision and Decisions

A father must always have a vision of where he wants the family to go. This vision has to be founded on an unshakeable faith in God, and by committing his family to prayer.

Any decision that is made in fear will never stand. It may be a good decision, but if it is made from a fearful perspective rather than one of faith, the end result will never fit the vision God has for you. It is only through faith that God can provide for a man’s family. If God gave you a vision and the going gets tough, He will always provide a way out!

The Power of Words

God gave man authority over everything on earth; therefore every father has direct authority over his family. A father must always speak words of blessing and encouragement to his family and over his family. There is such power in words that you cannot afford to speak discouraging words over your children. Proverbs 18:21 says,

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”

The effects may not be seen immediately, but negative words always end up coming to pass. Ephesians 4:29 says,

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Remember, the words you speak over your children will either build them up or break them down. If words are misused within the family, everyone suffers. It is through the father’s words that he will build up the solid Godly foundations of his family. In fact, speaking Godly words over your children has a bigger impact on their future than leaving them millions of dollars in their accounts!

The Power of Prayer

A family that prays together stays together. It is the father’s role to lead his family in prayer. He is the high priest in his house. Sadly, in most cases, this role has been abdicated to the mother. There’s nothing wrong with the mother praying for the family, but the father has to realise his God-given responsibility over his family.

Prayer doesn’t have to be complicated. As simple as a prayer may be, God will still hear it. Philippians 4:6-7 says,

“Be anxious for nothing, but by prayer and supplication, and thanksgiving, make your request known to God.”

Every father needs to stand upon the Word of God to know where he is and where he is going. Let the Word of God be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path.

In Closing…

It’s not easy being a father. Everything that you are going through, someone else went through. No matter how difficult times may get, do not lose hope or get depressed. Be encouraged by the testimony of others who have passed through and endured trials like yours!
