I was reading Matthew’s account in the of the life of Jesus and came upon something I found interesting.  Matthew 9:9 says, “And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.” (KJV)

Jesus passes Matthew and simply says, “follow me”.  Matthew did not answer with a question or ask for an explanation, he simply got up and followed Him.  The same scenario is repeated with the other disciples.  The question was posed and they followed without question.

If someone came to my house and asked me to follow him, I would certainly ask where he wanted me go, what we would be doing, why he wanted me or at least how long until he wanted me to leave and how long I would be gone.  It wouldn’t matter how well I respected the man asking me to follow, I would certainly have questions to ask.

Today, Jesus is still asking us to follow Him.  He wants us to follow and do as He asks.  We may feel there will be things we will have to give up, but our reward for following Him will be much greater.
