When I was small I used to love making a forts.  I would get as many bed sheets and table cloths as I could find and drape them over the kitchen table and chairs.  I would usually use shoes to keep them from sliding off.  After every wall was completed I would crawl inside and feel completely safe.  There was just something about being completely surrounded by the walls of my fort that was comforting.

A feeling of safety and comfort is something that we all need, some more than others.  There are many places in which we can search for these qualities.  The only sure place to find complete and eternal safety and comfort is in the Bible, in God.  Psalms 91:2 tells us, “I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”” (NKJV)  When we realize that God is a strong fortress we can feel safe in Him and run to Him in times of trouble.  It is our confidence and trust in Him that will make us feel safe in a troubled world.
