She placed her hands on my ankles and slowly, they begin to heal.
I’m astonished! What kind of power?!
After healing me, she pulls me to my feet, grips me tight with a hug and whispered,
“There’s no escaping this… They’ll only pursue us if we run… We must fight.”
I took a deep breath… I knew she was right.
“Alright, we’ll fight,” I replied… I’m not afraid to die  by her side.
She looked at me with a confident smile…
“How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?”
Somehow, those words made me feel braver than I’ve ever felt… where did she get that from? Some ancient quote? It almost seemed familiar to me…
Those words… They made me believe that what I once saw to be impossible, possible.
I looked at my enemies differently… I looked at her differently.
Instead of wanting to keep her safe, I wanted her to fight with me.
I nodded to her and she nodded in return…
Without warning, we charged towards our enemies.
They were confused… They didn’t understand our sudden courage.
But they didn’t move… And we didn’t stop…
Suddenly, their front-line broke and they swarmed towards us.
We’re not afraid!
With our swords prepared to cut down the enemy, the two of us let out a war cry…
And it had begun; a battle against evil.
I’ve fought many battles and I’ve fought aside many brave warriors…
But this felt a lot different from those of the past.
I felt a strength I had never known… It was… weird. It confused me…
But I didn’t let that confusion stop me…
We collided with our enemies, taking them down, one by one.
Quickly, blood covered the ground, but it was neither mine nor hers.
She was very skilled, indeed.
I had nothing to fear from the beginning.
I wondered why she didn’t tell me.
She knew what she was doing.
Not one enemy could touch her.
She crushed heads under her heel, removed some with her sword, dented armor with her mere hands. I’m in awe; trying to understand her power…
Who is she, really?
Distracted; watching her wage war, I was caught off guard…
I was going down, but not without a fight…
I had to use my hands… because I had dropped my sword…
It’s probably being kicked across the ground.
Then, the enemies that took me over were suddenly stilled.
They fell over me and I rolled away, safely…
Again, she saved me.
I nodded my head to her… My heart is full of gratefulness.
She has no reason to show me such faithfulness.
She tossed me my sword and nodded back at me.
At that moment, an enemy tried to attack her from behind…
That angered me so much!
I moved her aside and pushed my sword right though its eye.
Then she was behind me, taking out another enemy.
We have each other’s backs… beautiful.
Nothing will stop us.
As many as our enemies were, we seemed to overwhelm them.
Our swords were covered in blood.
Our clothes were scarlet stained…
The blood of our enemies became our war paint…
Evil was experiencing it’s demise.
We didn’t grow tired; we didn’t get weak.
We kept fighting, we slaughtered hundreds…
Some even begged for mercy at our feet… But we took no chances…
Many came for us at once, but we stood our ground.
They surrounded us, but we didn’t break.
They were many, we were only two… I’ve never fought a fight like this.
We were winning… This was true.
The impossible was proven to be possible…
We didn’t relent, and our enemies toppled.
Then, the earth shook once more and we all stumbled.
She fell forward as I stood.
I ran to catch her, I wanted to make sure she didn’t fall…
But I was grabbed at the ankle once more.
This time, I cut the hands off my enemy… Many more came to overpower me!
I refuse to let them devour me!
She laid on the ground, fighting to get back on her feet…
I fought hard to get to her…
I broke the neck of one enemy, then the jaw of another and severed its head.
Another came and I cut its feet from underneath him and shattered his skull with my heel.
I learned that from her…
Another came and met the pommel of my blade against its skull and another came behind me, and tasted the steel of my blade… I made sure he swallowed it.
Any enemy that stood between me and her, felt my wrath.
It was getting to the point where I couldn’t see her through the mess of enemies around her… I’m so terrified… I can hear my own heart beating within me…
I wasn’t sure if she was still fighting or dying…
I can’t control the anxiety that I’m feeling…
And I’m giving my all…
But I think I’ll have to reveal a side of me that I’ve been hiding…
The side of me that she will be surprised to see…
This side of me isn’t humble in the least… This side of me, even terrified me.
I don’t know how she will react to seeing a man become a beast.
But to save her life, I’ll do anything.

To be continued…
