When I was small I used to think that the moon would grow and then shrink.  After all, sometimes I could see this huge moon in the sky, while at other times it seemed very small indeed.  The only explanation that made any sense to my young mind was that the moon was changing sizes.

Eventually I learned that it is always the same size.  It was only the sun’s light on it that made it appear the way it did.  The part of the moon that seemed hidden was the side away from the sun.  Although it could not be seen, it was always there.

Sin in our lives can take on a similar face.  It may appear to hidden, but it is always there.  People may not see it, but it is there and God is able to see it.  Psalms 69:5 tells us “O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.” (KJV)   We may try to hide them, but God sees them all.  Our only option then becomes to confess them all to Him and ask for His forgiveness.
